The GAP in Brno
Hobzová, Petra ; Jourová, Drahoslava (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
The subject of my bachelor's thesis is the design of a multifunctional building in a selected gap in the center of Brno in Jezuitská Street. The main idea was to create a multifunctional house that will be suitably designed into a cramped and deep gap and will combine several functional units. It is primarily civic amenities with services, administrative functions and mostly student housing. On the ground floor there is a shop and a cafe. In my work I deal with the material connection to the surrounding buildings of the place and I respect it. In the cramped narrow gap, which has a given area, it was necessary to divide the building plot into 2 masses due to sufficient sun exposure of all spaces. The main mass, which closes the street line on Jezuitská Street and the second, which closes the gap in the park of Danuše Muzikářová. In the central part there is a smaller courtyard with vertical communication with a singlearm staircase and a barrier-free solution - an elevator. The horizontal communication consists of balconies, which connect the two materials on each floor and from them there are accesses to individual apartments and offices. In the proposed multifunctional building, there is a passage from Jezuitská Street through the courtyard with greenery to Danuše Muzikářová Park on the ground floor.
Reconstruction of the Pohorelec at the JAMU Stage Design Studio
Páralová, Veronika ; Špiller, Martin (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Lavický, Miloš (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to produce project documentation for building permission and part of the detail building documentation. The project was based on an architectural study made during the course AG34 Architectural Design Studio. The topic of the study was reconstruction and finding a new function for a building in the Brno city centre, Pohořelec street. The object is located in the historical centre of Brno close to Malinovské náměstí. Despite it is not a protected monument, but it is part of the Urban Conservation Area Brno. Particular emphasis was placed on preserving its original appearance and historical elements. The building dates from the post-war period and is built in a functionalist style. The building was redesigned for the purpose of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. It will become the headquarters of the Rectorate and Stage Design Studio. In the ground floor, there is a café with a small refreshment. The essence of the whole design is to preserve the original appearance while adapting the new function and maximizing the space. Therefore, the interventions in the building envelope are minimal and a main part of the changes are in the interior of the building.
Architecture in the era of housing crisis
Hobzová, Petra ; Jourová, Drahoslava (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
My diploma thesis is based on a pre-diploma project with the same name, namely "Architecture in the Time of the Housing Crisis." In the theoretical part, together with two female classmates, we analyzed the development of housing from the industrial revolution to current housing trends around the world within the framework of different time sectors. The result is a detailed analysis of topics that, in our opinion, are connected to the housing crisis, whether it is a historical or a current one. We also analyzed the current principles of participatory housing, which can be a suitable path for the Czech Republic to more affordable housing within various social groups. I myself was interested in the approach of the city of Brno and its pilot project of affordable cooperative housing. Cooperative housing is an advantageous combination of ownership and rental housing. This is mainly a very good solution for young families who cannot afford a mortgage due to a lack of funds. Funds for the construction of the apartment are provided by the cooperative, the tenant - member of the cooperative makes an initial membership deposit and the rest of the share is paid in the form of rent. A cooperative member rents an apartment from the cooperative, and after paying off the loan, the apartment becomes his property. I design commercial areas and common areas as part of houses, usually on the ground floor of houses. The four- and five-story apartment buildings have shared roof terraces. Residents of all apartment buildings share common gardens where they grow their own vegetables and plants. Together, they also take care of operation and maintenance, when shared spaces can be rented out for other temporary use. Commercial premises procure a regular financial contribution for the cooperative, which gradually repays the construction loan. As part of my diploma thesis, I decided to create an apartment complex in the countryside, as a comfortable multi-generational living, which will meet the standards of the present time. The advantage of this location is the close accessibility to the center of Brno in connection with public transport. For my solution, I chose the abandoned site of Kohn's brickyard on Červené kopci. Currently, there is a brownfield and a large horticulture colony.
